Andy is a writer with numerous publications in small press journals and magazines, in print and online, including Sunshine Noir 2: Writings from San Diego and Tijuana, Fiction International, Central Park, Southern Anthology, Black Scat Review, Black Scat Noir, Catch, Collages & Bricolages, Heaven Bone, Bakunin, and others. He is the author of two fiction collections: Narrative Cult Visions (MFA thesis, 1997) and The Veronicas of Our Own Perversions (2024) He is also the author of sixteen non-fiction books published and distributed by Gale/Thompson, Cengage Learning, Simon & Schuster, and others. These include biographies of Bruce Lee, Charles Manson, Pol Pot, Alfred Hitchcock, Nelson Mandela, and other noteworthy historic and popular culture figures, and histories on topics such as the Leopold & Loeb trial, the development of Blues music, the Harlem Renaissance, and the portrayal of crime and criminals in popular culture.
